Range time information

I asked Shady to run the Nevada Eight for the entire event so that we could get some information on range time.  From yesterday the actual range time was approximately 25 losses per hour per range.  I can do the calculation for you but that is what it was.  Our capacity was actually a little higher because we ran 8 sets per round with the last set only yielding 1 loss instead of 3. The capacity shooting Nevada Eight is 28 losses per hour per range assuming a full line with each set of shooters. For next month if we shoot a CFDA  bracket shoot and have 60 shooters a 3 x would take 2.76 hours on two ranges, a 4 x would take 4.14 hours on two ranges. For the State Championship assuming 120 shooters a 2x would take 2.76 hours on three ranges, 4.14 hours on two ranges.  We might want to consider keeping one range open for practice for the 14 magnificent shooters to practice on like they do at World. For the State Arizona Jackpot shoot, from yesterday a 14 shooter shoot off took about

Range Time & Club Bracket Shoot

CFDA scores by losses. What matters is how many Xs you have.  Because of that you can calculate range time by counting Xs needed to complete an event. For illustration, at our last event we had 39 shooters. For each full round we got 19 losses. We shot 5 no x rounds for 95 losses.  In the shoot off we had 38 shooters with 3 shooters being clean so we needed 35 losses in the shoot offs.  For our last monthly shoot therefore we had 120 losses, which is the equivalent 6.3 full rounds (120/19=6.3). That is a useful bit of information to know for thinking about other formats.   For our state shoot discussion assume we have 120 shooters. A full round would result in 60 losses. If we are going to give each 5 Xs with a magnificent 10 shoot off, the total losses to complete the main match would be computed as follows:  100 shooters would get 5 losses for 500 losses. Twenty Magnificent shooters would average no more than 2 losses each for additional 40 losses, so total losses need to end mai

Bracket Matches

I have shot in 7 bracket matches this year, 3 at titled events, 1 at the Camp and 3 at Shady Mountain.  Brackets definitely have some advantages over other side matches. One shooter's perspective:   Lil' James absolutely loved the bracket match he got to shoot in at South Dakota. He has shot in about 10 title matches and he is not thrilled with shooting the 2nd chance shoots where he is normally eliminated early.  At South Dakota he was in a 17 shooter bracket where he was as quick as any of the shooters. He finished 4th having lost to the top three in 2-2 matches by a less than 10 milliseconds.  Great fun and competition.   Only CFDA Bracket.   The only CFDA bracket match shot in Arizona in the last 7 years, (except title matches, Shady Mtn, and Rio's two magnificent shoots) was the bracket match shot at the Camp in May.  We had 18 shooters and I think it was really enjoyed by all except there was some grumbling about the size of the targets.  I think the consensus was
